Heritage & Hearth

Heritage & Hearth is a template for an auction house, for Joomla and WordPress. It shows timed auctions (HikaAuction) and a shop of fixed-price pieces (HikaShop) under one header and one cart: a hero for the next sale with its countdown, lots listed as a catalogue table with estimates, a lot page built around the bid box, and the checkout, the customer area and the vendor area (HikaMarket) in the same style.

• Saleroom design: oxblood, brass and ivory, set in Cormorant Garamond and Inter, with an H & H monogram.
• Header with announcement bar, main menu, search, account link, cart count and language switcher; a wide departments panel built from your category menu items, with the next sale beside it; a burger menu on phones.
• Home page from module positions: a hero slider whose slides are sales (arrows, dots, keyboard, stops on hover, no autoplay under reduced motion), a strip under it with the active sale's countdown (bidding opens in, bidding closes in, results), featured lots, closing soon, department tiles and a consign band. The sale's dates are read from the lots of its category.
• Lots as a catalogue table: lot number, photograph, description with its subtitle, estimate, price or current bid, status and time left; a card grid for shop pieces; styled filters, pagination and phone layouts.
• A sale's page opens with its name and dates and tabs: All lots, Open lots, Upcoming, Prices realised, then My bids and Favourites for a logged-in visitor.
• Lot page: lot number and estimate above the title, HikaAuction's status, countdown, bid buttons and maximum-bid window in the house's style, and a bid bar fixed at the bottom of the screen on a phone.
• One-page checkout, cart and order pages, login and registration forms, customer area, bidding history and won auctions, and the HikaMarket vendor dashboard.
• Custom 403, 404 and offline pages; a footer with the legal links.
• Fonts served from your own site: the Google fonts are downloaded once, so visitors' browsers never contact Google.
• Six style presets and a Custom choice (colours and fonts), and settings for the logo, the announcement bar, the sticky header, the hero and the lots.
• English and French: every text of the template is a language key (en-GB and fr-FR files), so adding a language is one file.
• The lot page after a catalogue: a gallery with the thumbnails on the side, the lot's eyebrow, title and subtitle, the bid box in one panel, the lot's facts, and tabs for the description and for each custom WYSIWYG field (condition report, provenance, shipping), then the bid history.
• A search that really searches: the header's search box feeds a HikaShop text filter on the names, descriptions and codes of the lots.
• A valuation request: the HikaShop contact page with a telephone field and an AJAX file field for the photographs, so that consignors send pictures with their request.
• Favourites with the HikaShop like plugin: a heart on the cards and the lot page, and a Favourites tab for logged-in visitors.
• Pages for a house: about and sell-with-us pages with a picture on one side, legal pages, and article pages without the author and date block.

Six looks, switched in one setting, and a Custom choice with your own colours and fonts. Saleroom (oxblood, brass, ivory; Cormorant Garamond and Inter) is the formal auction house. Hearth (cream, terracotta, walnut; Fraunces and Source Sans 3) is warmer, for house clearances and antiques. Gallery (white, graphite, teal; Playfair Display and Inter Tight) suits design and contemporary art. Emerald (bottle green and brass), Midnight (navy and champagne) and Blush (rose and charcoal) complete the set.

• Works with every HikaShop edition. The lot table, the lot page and the bid box need HikaAuction.
• The integration is made with CSS and JS and two layout overrides (the listing table, kept compatible with HikaShop's layout), so updates of Joomla, WordPress, HikaShop and HikaAuction keep working.
• Lot number and estimate are custom fields of the product table (fields named lot_number, estimate_low and estimate_high); the template prints them above the lot title and in the table.
• A sale is a HikaShop category of auction lots. Its dates are those of its first and last lot.

• Header: announcement, topbar, logo, menu, menu-feature (the block beside the departments panel), search, header-icons.
• Home page: banner (the hero: the free HikaShop Slider module), sale-strip, home-featured, home-closing, home-departments, home-consign, home-journal.
• Content: breadcrumbs, sidebar-left (the filters, shown on listings), sidebar-right, main-top, main-bottom, bottom-a, bottom-b.
• Footer: footer-brand, footer-a, footer-b, footer-c, footer-d, footer-bottom.

• 1) Download the template package (tpl_heritagehearth.zip) from our website.
• 2) Install it on your Joomla website via System > Install > Extensions.
• 3) Set "Heritage & Hearth" as the default template in System > Site Templates (Styles).
• 4) Make the sales: one HikaShop category per sale, with its auction lots in it.
• 5) For the search, create a text filter in HikaShop (Display > Filters) on the product name, description and code, and point the header's search form at it. For favourites, install and enable the HikaShop like plugin. For the valuation request, add the fields of your choice to the HikaShop contact form (an AJAX file field takes the photographs).
• 6) For the lot listings, create hidden product listing menu items with the alias hh-lot-catalogue (all lots, the table layout) and, for the tabs, hh-lots-open, hh-lots-upcoming and hh-lots-results (each with its auction state set in the menu item's HikaAuction options). Link your sales and departments to the first one with the sale's category.
• 7) For the home page, install the free HikaShop Slider module and publish it in the banner position, with one line per slide in its settings (a slide that is a sale takes the sale's category number, so that the strip shows that sale while the slide is on screen); publish a Custom module in sale-strip with the demo's strip markup, and HikaShop product modules in home-featured (table layout) and home-closing (cards, auctions only, still valid, ordered by end date).
• 8) Build the menus and the footer with menu modules in the positions above.

The template style has five groups of settings.

• Style: the style preset (Saleroom, Hearth, Gallery, Emerald, Midnight, Blush or Custom) with a live preview; with Custom, the headline font, the interface font and eleven colours (ink, paper, bone, accent, brand, brand deep, brand soft, departments band, accent on dark, line, muted text); and "Fonts served by this site", which downloads the Google fonts once into images/heritagehearth-fonts so that visitors' browsers never contact Google.
• Layout and branding: the announcement bar text, the logo file (replaces the monogram and the name), the name and the line under it, the favicon, the logo size, the sticky header, the top bar with the language switcher, the footer text and the back to top button.
• Home page: the sale strip under the hero. The hero's slides, delay, height, arrows and dots are settings of the HikaShop Slider module.
• Lots: the estimate, the time left, the state tabs, and the bid bar fixed at the bottom of a phone's screen.
• Home page effects: how long the reveal animation runs and how much of a section must show before it starts, then for the banner and for each home section (featured lots, closing soon, departments, consign band, journal) the direction it slides in from, or none, and a delay. Nothing moves for visitors whose device asks for reduced motion.

Heritage & Hearth also ships as a WordPress block theme, with the same design, the same HikaShop styling and the same three presets as style variations (Appearance > Editor > Styles). HikaAuction does not run on WordPress: the theme shows the shop, with the hero, the departments and the lot-table layout for HikaShop listings, but no sale strip or bid pages.

• 1) Download the WordPress theme package (heritagehearth.zip) from our website.
• 2) In wp-admin, open Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload Theme, choose the zip and click Install Now, then activate it.
• 3) Build your menu in the header's navigation block and your footer links in the footer part, in the Site Editor. The theme creates no pages: add the legal pages you need.
• 4) The front page uses the bundled "Home" pattern.

1.1.0 - 11th of October 2026

• Improvement: the hero slider is now the free HikaShop Slider module (install it and publish it in the banner position): the slides, the delay, the height, the arrows and the dots are set in the module, and the module can be used with any template. The sale strip follows the slide on screen. The hero slide delay and hero height settings of the template are gone from its Home page group. Before, the slides were typed as HTML in a Custom module.
• Improvement: Home page effects settings: the reveal duration and threshold, and a direction and a delay for the banner and for each home section. Before, the home page had no reveal animation.
