Cannot get multilingual to work

We have set up multilingual (en-GB & es-ES) for all products in Hikashop under the product Main Options (see attached image).

We have a native Joomla language switcher module and menu items with associations set to the specific product items.

However, when in Spanish mode, the product titles and descriptions still show in English.

Is there something we are doing wrong to make this work?

Thank you,
Dustin

Hi,

Go in the Falang Translations area and check that the translations are enabled.
Also, check that Falang's system driver plugin is enabled or the translations won't be taken into account on the frontend.

Does HikaShop not work with Joomla's native language functions?

Hi,

That translation popup is supposed to only display if you have Falang or JoomFish installed on your website.
Otherwise, you shouldn't even be able to see the translation flags.

HikaShop works with Joomla's native language functions ( the interface can be in several languages, and you can use translation overrides for many things to have different texts for different languages). However, the content translation requires Falang:
demo.hikashop.com/index.php/en/hikashop/...ge/with-translations

We had to uninstall Falang due to a database conflict with DOCman that couldn't be resolved by Falang's support. All related plugins should be disabled.

Is there any other way to get the content translations in Hikashop? All our content has been switched over to native Joomla language switcher with menu associations. I'd like to avoid going back to Falang.

Hi,

You can use this then:
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/extensi...t/multilanguages-ck/
That plugin will process the translations anywhere on your website, including in HikaShop content.

Not sure I'm comfortable using a plugin that hasn't been updated since 2015 and doesn't support notifications via the Joomla! Update Manager. Any other options?

Hi,

This plugin wasn't updated because no update was needed.
It's a really small plugin and if you look at the code you can see that the things it use didn't change in Joomla for years. So it's no wonders updates were not released.

Now maybe you can find another plugin which does the same thing on the JED, but I looked a bit and couldn't find an alternative.
I would personally recommend going with this one.

While this plugin technically works. It makes the administration a mess if you use it for the product titles, categories, and options. Unfortunately, we can't use this.

It's surprising to me that you don't have multi-lingual support built-in.

Do you have any other suggestions?
