Hi,

We are working on a single-page checkout for guest users.
Is there a way to somehow remove the "Next" button which validates the billing address?

Our checkout is a one-step process with Cart+Coupon+Address+Shipping+Payment+Terms.
We would like that the address part behaved exactly like any other field.

Notice that we are using the register/login feature for some types of customers/users (affiliates and resellers), but any other customer is checking out as guest.

Thanks for your help

Hi,
If your checkout is a single-page checkout (with only one step) you should have a "Finish" button instead of a "Next" button, so your should check your checkout workflow via "Hikashop->System->Configuration->Checkout".

Thank you for you answer Mohamed.

The Finish button does come, but first after the customer has confirmed his address by clicking on the Next button at the bottom of the address field.

FYI, we are using Joomla's registration system in our shop, not Hika's own. I don't know if that plays any role.

What we want to achieve is that the only button to click on our one-page checkout is the "Finish" button, without having to click at the bottom of the address field to confirm it.

Hello,
Your user will HAVE to confirm and select his address, note that you have multiple type of address selection/creation, you'll just have to use the "Address selector" option of the page "Hikashop->System->Configuration->Checkout".

I understand. That's also the conclusion we came to.

It just feels a bit wrong to ask guest shoppers to click on a button to confirm their address, and then even give them the possibility to add other billing addresses afterwards when they are checking out as guests. When the guest cutomers clicks on "Next/Confirm address", a "New" button appears allowing him to add other billing addresses. That belongs more to a checkout for registered customers.

I think it would be better if one-page checkout had one single button, the "Submit/Pay" button, and if adjustments need to be done to taxes and shipping costs based on the billing/shipping address, they could perhaps by done dynamically via the country and state drop-down menus.

Those two competing websites have such a very simple one-page checkout where fees and taxes update themselves based on the drop-down menus (they are the largest retailers of musical equipment in Europe): https://www.thomann.de , and https://www.musicstore.de .

Is there a way that something like that can be achieved, either with the standard features of Hika or with some programming of our own?

Hello,
To do that you'll have to directly use some code customization which will require some development skills.
Note that you can customize the files of hikashop views via "Hikashop->Display->Views".
