I think the system would be better served by having an option in the configuration files to show or hide tags. I have tags hidden in the Joomla default but they show up in Hikashop.
The link you have provided really does not help much because it does not explain where the page is that allows me to comment out or remove the display of show_block_tags, or at least it is not evident.
Please believe me I have been searching for hours on how to stop making these tags display and have tried editing the code to keep them from displaying with no luck. The above link is not bringing me any closer to a solution.
