Shorter Product URL

Hi,

The canonical URL is a meta data that you can use to tell search engines what should be the URL to index for a product.
It's not meant to replace SEF extensions like SH404SEF which allow you to create aliases of URLs and thus use any kind of URL you want.
However, having domain.com/index.php/00975 instead of domain.com/index.php/wonkyzebra/product/00975 is possible without any SEF extension and URL aliases.
For that you need to have two things:
- you need to empty the setting "product SEF name" setting of the HikaShop configuration. That way, the "product" part of the URL will be removed (when the URLs are generated by HikaShop, and you can remove it from the canonical URL).
- you need to have the menu item wonkyzebra as the homepage of your website. This part is handled by Joomla, not HikaShop, and the only way Joomla will remove that menu item alias is if the menu item is the default one.
