Explaining a language string

I want to precisely translate a language string but I'm confused about the meaning. The string is:
MAIN_PRICE_OVERRIDE="Main product price percentage"

Is it a percentage discount or a percentage additional charge? Is it the percentage to the price of a main product? If so, what do you mean with "Main product"? I don't know how to translate that (into german).

This text is displayed in the variant edition page so that instead of entering a price for a variant, you can enter a percentage of the price of the main product of the variant and that way the price of the variant will be calculated automatically based on the price of the main product.
