Can I Create a unique serial with lookup module. was created by Vanderburgh
Hi there. I am interested in purchasing HikaSerial.
I make custom products, and I want to stamp a serial number on each item. I then want to document this serial with different criteria - for example: size, wood used, worker, artist, and maybe 6 other custom fields.
I want the buyer to then enter the serial number on my website in a box, and have all of the details that I want to show - available to see.
Is this possible?
-- url of the page with the problem -- : mywebsite.com/mypage
-- HikaShop version -- : x.x.x
-- Joomla version -- : x.x
-- PHP version -- : x.x.x
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : XXXXX x.x.x
-- Error-message(debug-mod must be tuned on) -- : Error_message

It is easy to associate a serial with an order in Hikashop, so rather than associating the serial directly with the criteria used to build the product, the serial would instead reference a Hikashop order, and the order details would in turn provide the breakdown of the criteria.
The Hikashop Orders and Order Details database tables can easily be extended with your custom fields, and together with the existing Products and Variants capabilities in Hikashop, you can probably accomplish your goals with minimal or zero custom programming this way.
Hope this helps,
Jeff

Thanks. This sounds good so far.
What is someone wanted to look up the serial number outside of the store - revealing some (or all) of the details, how would that work?

Hi,
If you want to check a serial, havnig some information about it ; you have to use the "web services".
The web services are a part of the "consume" feature, but it allow you to check the status of a serial.
