Shipping - excluding zone(s)

I am setting up flat shipping and want to make 2 zones: US and International.

I set up the US easily, but I'd like to make the international the rest of the world but exclude Italy and all of Africa because of postal difficulties. How is it possible to set an area and exclude something from it? also I notice Europe is a zone but Africa did not come up as a zone. So the basic question is how to set up International being world wide, but being able to exclude the US, Italy and all the African countries from it? This is also important over time as we find certain countries that may be troublesome for shipping, we would like to remove them from the list as well.

If I am able to do that, I am also curious, will selecting International for shipping prevent someone from places like Italy or African countries from being able to place an order?

You need to go in the menu System->Zones and create a new zone. Then, in the sub zones area of that zone, you need to add all the countries corresponding to that zone.
Then, you will be able to use that zone in your shipping methods.

And yes, if you have for example one shipping method for USA and one shipping method for that zone, when the address of the user will be in italy or africa, there will be no shipping method found by the system and it will display an error message and won't let the user finish his order.

Could I just set the Country instead of setting the Zone to
control my desire country to doing business?
If yes, am I need to delete all zone but just to keep the country I desire?

Yes, you can also unpublish the countries you don't want to ship to.

You should not delete them but unpublish them.

If you delete them, they will be added back when you update HikaShop.
