customer type

I quite don't understand one thing. As I see there are 3 predefined customer types - 1. Individual 2. Company without VAT 3. Company with VAT . So how do you assign customer type to a registered user. Is it possible during registration or?

It's done automatically based on the address entered by the user.
By default, a user is considered as an individual.
If the user enters a company name it won't be an individual.
If the user enters a VAT number, it will be a company with a VAT number.
That is used only for the tax system.
