Custom user fields

Hi I want to have a free text field which the user can enter additional information regarding the product they are purchasing.

I have Hikashop Essential - i created a product custom field but can't seem to get it to allow the customer to type anything in or to display on the order

Have i done something wrong ?

Indeed, custom product fields allows you to enter information related to the product in the product edition screen. Then, your customers can see that information on the product page.

If, on the other end, you want to ask your customers information on the products they are being, you should create instead custom fields of the table "item". These custom fields will be displayed on the product page. You can only create these with the Business edition of HikaShop.
We have an upgrade product if you want to upgrade from the Essential to the Business edition:
