Customer input help

I am designing an art canvas website which allows customer to select artworks and then personalize them with their names

How can I setup a text input field where the customer enters the name they want on the canvas and this name then also appears on the order and the cart?

You can create a custom field of the table "item" and the type "text" via the menu Display>Custom fields with the Business edition for that. The rest will be automatically handled.
