donation amount aside from purchase in checkout

Hi I have business edition and I want to add a donation amount textbox in the chekout page to allow customers if they want to donate. Customers have to pay normal purchase amount plus the donation amount. Is it possible? Please help.

I could just put the donation text box in product detail page and its working . Can't we put it only in the checkout page .

You indeed have to have it on the product page.
But you could create a specific donation product and then add a link on the checkout to direct to that product page for donations and restrict your custom item field only to that donation product.
