Per item shipping configuration

I'm setting up a shop that sells CDs, so everything is the same weight and dimensions. I'd like to set up shipping so that the first item costs a fixed amount (say £3.00) and then each additional item adds £1.50 to the total shipping cost.

I'm tying myself in knots trying to work out how/whether it's possible to do this with the manual shipping plugin, and I'd be grateful for any guidance.

You can set a price for the shipping method of £1.50 and use the "Use price per product" option and set £1.50 for the price per product.
