Different Pricing Levels for Different User Groups

I saw that in business edition you can offer different discounts to different user groups - but our question is will those customers in different user groups see the discounted pricing when they are reviewing the items? Or is it a discount that comes at checkout? And, can each customer be defined by one of 5 pricing groups and be able to see their pricing in their shopping cart once registered?

From what I can see, you can easily apply discounts via the ACL. So if you create, say a trade client, only when they login can they see the discount. If they don't login, they're considered part of the general public group and they don't see it. However you can also apply discount to the public group too.
The discount is applied to the pricing i.e. 10% and you can also view the discount in the cart view.
