Hikashop not confirming sales

My web designer installed Hikashop essentials onto our website.
Unfortunately most sales only show 'created' and not 'confirmed'
As a result we have to log in to Paypal and Worldpay to check if each customer has actually paid.
The web designer says this is normal for Hikashop,
Is he correct?

Paypal plugin can be configured in order to receive payment notifications:

About worldpay, the plugin have a notification system too.

The notification allows the payment platforms to inform the store that a transaction has been validated (or cancelled). So HikaShop can change the order status of the order and send some emails if required.
