Churches don't have to pay a tax

Churches often order from my website and they are not required to pay a tax if they have a specific Government IRS form. Is there a way they can enter their IRS number so they don't pay a tax?

If Hikashop doesn't have that feature, can I use the VAT number feature for the same purpose if I make a few tweaks?

This kind of option is not available but you can indeed do it with the VAT number feature.

Also you should soon be able to create a mass action which move a new user to a specific group after his registration according to a custom field.
Thus, you will be able able to move a customer in a specific user group which won't have to pay the tax (for this you have to configure the ACL of your taxes).
Mass actions are already available and the group management feature should be out soon.
