Product URLs with categoty/item string

We hare seeing the correct URL for product pages such as the one above but we are also seeing indexable URL's missing the 'category/item' item string. For example in this case:

www.militaryplaques.com/department-homel...security-seal-plaque

Which gives a 404.

How do we stop these URLs being published . We use 4SEO and 4SEF

Hi,

With HikaShop only, without 4SEF and 4SEO, I would recommend to simply enter the URL you want in the "canonical URL" of the products.
Then, ask google to unindex / reindex these wrong URLs and everything should be good again.

With 4SEO and 4SEF, I'm not sure. It might depend on how they are configured.
Having correct canonical URLs in the products is good anyways, but maybe there are other things that need to be done in 4SEO or 4SEF.
I would recommend checking with their developer's support what they recommend.

HI ... I discovered that for each product the SKU slug had been input into the Brand URL. With the brand URL field filled out it was being published at the bottom of every product page as domain/sku-slug So when the bots crawled the site they got 404s.

Sure that this is user error on a dev's part being over enthusiastic but maybe a simple note on the UI might be in order.
