Force Vendor page to open on menu listing

IS there anyway to ensure that when a visitor clicks on a link to a vendor page, that they are always directed to a menu item I set up for that vendor.

I am using a menu item for vendor pages as I want to retain control of the URL of each vendor's shop.

I used this already, to open all vendors on my main vendor page: www.saikungmarkets.com/vendors.html

But what I want is to have each vendor page going to their own menu item, as I have set many different vendor pages, each with their own menu item.

I thought it would work the same as joomla article system - if their is a menu item for an article then it always defaults to that menu.

The link you gave is a link to a vendor page. So what is "their own page" ?

What I mean is that I have these vendor page menu items:

But when I click on links to these two vendors the system links me to

I understand that I can control the menu item for all vendor pages in the control panel, which gives me the first part of the URL " www.saikungmarkets.com/vendors/ " but actually what I want is for the system to link to these vendor specific menu items as shown at the top.

The reason I want this is because I do not want their URL to change. Currently if the vendor changes their name, then the url also changes. Maybe the solution is to prevent them changing their name. But it would be useful if the system defaulted to specific vendor pages if the menu item exists.

HikaShop have a feature for the "product canonical" and it can generate unique links for products.
In HikaMarket 1.4.2, we introduced the "vendor canonical" column in the database but for the moment, that feature is not supported. I wanted to be sure that all issues that users had with the product canonical were closed.
With the automatic generation of canonical or users who enter incorrect values for the product canonical, I still see various issues and I'm still not fan of it and I don't want to include such kind of feature if it generate more issues that it will solve problems.

So, that's why, for the moment the best is to use the vendor listing menu.
After that, you could use a SEF component in order to perform URL "translations" ; but the canonical support in HIkaShop is not really for my point of view to be integrated into HikaMarket for the vendor canonicals.

And I'm waiting for the new router system in Joomla which will provide new possibilities to create a more flexible routing system (in HikaShop and HikaMarket).

I was wondering if there was any more progress on this? I want to do the same thing and came across this thread, but when I looked up a possible canonical link for vendors, I could not find one. Has it not been implemented yet?

HikaMarket have a setting in order to specify the Joomla menu ID used for vendor pages.

I've already done that, but was wanting to know an update on whether there was any progress on canonical links for vendors. I guess I'll just be patient 'til there is. Thanks!

The new router system would be available in the next Joomla major release : Joomla 3.7
