Shipping discount additional items

Hi

I have a product that I want to charge $4 for the first one to ship and then $2 dollars for each subsequent one so

1 unit = $4 ($4 )
2 units = $6 ($4 + $2)
3 units = $8 ($4 + $2 + $2)
and so on

I have gone around in circles trying to set this up, any tips or pointers gratefully received.

If this is the only product you sell, then you can :

• set in shipping method price per product $2 and then set price for payment $2 or raise the price for your product
• set in shipping method price per product $4 and lower product price for quantity 2+
• add shipping rates to product price and offer free shipping

If you sell more products and you want charge only for this product, you can either use dimensions with weight set to 0 on all others products, add shipping rates to products prices or you will need custom shipping plugin.

I'm not sure i explained this correctly

example;

5 individual products
1 shipping rate $4 for the first item then $2 for subsequent items so even if 5 seperate products are purchased then the discount covers the whole purchase, i.e first product $4 the remaining 4 $2 each.

I think it's not possible to set shipping plugin this way.
You have to set in the shipping plugin price per product $2 and then you have to find the way how to add $2 to order.
You can charge this in payment plugin or create coupon and autoload it during checkout.

It it's issue for you that there will be Payment fee or coupon +$2 in your order, you can modify order, cart views and email template and display Shipping fee as Shipping fee+Payment fee or Shipping fee + Copupon.

the whole purchase, i.e first product $4 the remaining 4 $2 each.

If I correctly understood what your wanted to do, if you want the total shipping price to be $12 (4 + :
- if you only set a price per product of $2 your total will be $10
- if you set a shipping price of 4$ and a price per product the total will be $14
- so in your case a solution can just be to set a shipping price of $2 and a price per product of $2 so that the total can be 12$ and the first product will be charged $2 (shipping price) + $2 (price per product)
