How to set the size of the category item box?

When I display a category, the background ( box ) is much to wide.

How do I change the size?

There is no option for that since the box size is calculated automatically based on the number of columns, the margin and the image size options of your listing.
Apparently, you set your listing to display one column only and thus you get that result.
