Hi
I need to search Hikashop products in the overall Joomla Search. I have the following plugins enabled for search
1. Content - Smart Search
2. Smart Search - Content
3. HikaShop products search plugin
4. HikaShop categories search plugin
When I do the indexing using SmartSearch, then only the content is geting indexed. None of the HikaShop products are indexed.
Is there any other plugin that I need to get this working

Hi,
To have the products in the results of the search, you have to use the default Joomla search module.
Or another solution integrated with HikaShop.

We've used this 3rd party search module extension in several client stores, and it works very well with HikaShop:

Hello Deb,
Thank you very much for the recommendation. On your recommendation I will probably get this. Does it work with HikaShop immediately or does it have some options for configuration for HikaShop?
I am just curious. Is it super easy to set up?
I see it will work with a lot of other plugins as well. Do you know what it means when it says 'unzip first' in regards to HikaShop?:
offlajn.com/index.php?option=com_offlajn...ugins&tmpl=component
Of course I am very curious what the problems with Smart-Search are.

Hi, Sean, glad to be of help.
There are multiple HikaShop search plugins in the download, so you need to unzip the package first and then install them one by one.
However, I recommend trying first to use it with the latest native HikaShop search plugins and see if it does what you want, before installing the vendor's versions. Depending on what you are doing (using or not using canonical URLs, for instance), the standard HikaShop search plugins may be perfectly fine. In each of the HikaShop search plugins you can choose which fields are searchable. For example, when searching products do you want the search term entered to return results only if it is in the product title, or do you want to also include searching the description field, custom fields, etc.? These options greatly affect search usability and what is right for one store's catalog might not be the best solution for another.
And then yes, after that the AJAX Live Search is pretty easy to use. After using it for a while one of our clients decided to turn off the auto-suggest feature as their customers found it "too confusing" but other than that, all of our clients have liked it quite a bit.

Hi
It quite difficult to understand the interaction beetween extensionS for filter and search in Joomla and hikashop and third search extension ? We need to test disable/enable in plugin to know . A better descrition content for plug in ll should contain the name of people/team who implement it and the component module information !!
It seem finder come from the component name com_finder ( smartsearch)
It seem search come from the old joomla component name com_search (joomla search )
It is strange that componentS for search is not both inside admin and site joomla os file system :
For understand the basic we need to understand Joomla article( object component) for index/filter/search for module and menu . There is a very good video about this for article and smartchsearch here with both video and article with capture screen / text .
Since hikashop choose to not override not the default object Component article( already an override) but i think start to upper general level . The way to configure index/filter/search mut be done in hikashop level . The blend/ composite capture screen show this for hikashop for filter and configuration filter .
My question is
1- does hikashop has/use it own index way to index hks object component ( category product ...) ?
2- Some extension let user select article using date picker . Is there such implementation in hikashop for field that use joomla default date ? a date range picker ll be nice ( only find static like hks sales this month implemented using flash ) but it seem even joomla don't have this kind of functionnalities ( i actually find nothing )
3- relative to search , Does hikashop implement only filter and use for index /search widget the joomla standart way for module /menu ?
when go to item content menu and content module , I ll think i ll go to the joomla menu and joomla module but not !! quite disturbing !! I think content menu should be name content menu item .
for configure module
in joomla : Extension -> module manager
in hikashop : Component -> Hikashop then Display -> content module
hikashop ll show only the module related to hikashop not related to joomla !!
Regard's

1. HikaShop doesn't index anything.
Your MySQL server is indexing automatically the columns that we deemed indexable in HikaShop when we created the HikaShop database tables. That's a standard feature of MySQL.
2. Filters are not meant to work with date fields. If you want to have filters for dates search, I would recommend to create three custom fields: one for the selection of the year, one for the selection of the month and one for the selection of the day.
Then, create three filters on these custom fields so that you would effectively be able to search the products based on the date selected in these three fields with three filter dropdowns. That's the closest you can do to what you want without any heavy code development.
3. We're currently working on integrating back the hikashop options of menus and modules into the Joomla interface now that Joomla has made it easier to add so many options in its interface.
