Variants display as out of stock instead of not displaying at all

Hello,

I have created some characteristics for Garment, Colour and Size.
I have set the variants for the product so both Garments (Hoodie and Sweatshirt) include all sizes but the Hoodie only includes grey, blue and pink colours while Sweatshirt only comes in Two Tone Grey.

I have found on the front end when selecting Sweatshirt it still give me options for the other colours even thou I did not include these colours under variants. When you select one it just display has 'out of stock'.

Is there away for the coloured variants to only display when either you select Hoodie or Sweatshirt instead of displaying all colours.

Not with that display. You would have to change the "characteristic display method" setting of the HikaShop configuration to "list" so that you would get a list of only the available variants on the product page.

Thanks but if i set the method to list it give you a really long list of all the different options

Is it possible to do this but within a dropdown or compact it more?

Hi,

There is no option to do that with the dropdowns display.

If you have only two characteristics in the product, then you can use the "table" display which has a compact form and won't allow you to select impossible variants.
So one possibility could be to split the product into two products for the "garment" attribute and then have table display for the other two characteristics.

I am having the same issue.
I set the "table" display but I still can see the impossible variants.
How can I solve this issue?

The "table" display mode for characteristics can only work with two characteristics since it will use one characteristic for the columns and one for the rows of the 2D table.
I think in you case, the best is to update your HikaShop and activate the "Characteristics dynamic display" setting in the HikaShop configuration and use the normal "dropdown" mode in the "Characteristics selection method" setting.
That will work like you want I think.
That's a new mode of characteristics we've added recently which dynamically modify the dropdowns of the characteristics based on what was already selected before so that only available choices are given to the user.
And that's precisely what you need here.
