Products on shelf and products to order

I have a scenario where a producer has both products on the shelf for instant delivery, but also products that can be ordered, but first has to be manufactured after the ordering - how would I do that in Hikashop ? If I set the amount of a product that first has to be manufactured, to zero, then it is not possible to order the product ??

You could use the pre order plugin:

That way, you would have two stock in the product:
- the normal stock, which would be available first
- the pre order stock, which would be available after the normal stock has been completely used up. When pre ordering, the user will still pay normally, but the add to cart button will be changed to "pre order" (the text can be customized with a translation override)
And once the pre order stock has been used up, the product won't be purchasable.

Or you could just use the normal stock. You could create a custom field of the table "product" to be able to select between "instant delivery" and "shipped after manufacturing" and have the custom field displayed on the product page.

I have installed the plugin and created an overwrite for the english admin lang file (marked to use both frontend and backend) - no change in frontend ???

That's strange. Your screenshot indicates that these overrides where made for the english language, but the text you provided for the override is not in english (dutch maybe ?).
Isn't that the problem ?
If you want to have overrides for dutch, then you need to create the overrides for the english language, not the dutch language.
