Product characteristic options

We have added multiple options to a product. These are now all shown with the product on the category page. How can we disable this?”

I just found out that this can be done by set display Available options to no.
The issue can be closed.

Edit the characteristics via the menu Products>Characteristics. There, turn off the "Display available values on listings" setting of each characteristics.
