Hi!
Could you please help me set up a discount of $5 per product when a customer adds 3 or more different products to their cart?
For example:
  • If a customer adds 1 or 2 different or same products to the cart, no discount is applied.
  • If a customer adds 3 different or same products, they receive a $15 discount ($5 × 3).
  • If a customer adds 4 different or sane products, they receive a $20 discount ($5 × 4), and so on.
The discount should be applied automatically at checkout.
I use few currencies on the site - euro, usd and more
Is this possible to configure?
Thank you for your help!

Hi,

Yes, this can be done with the Cart fees plugin from our marketplace: www.hikashop.com/marketplace/operations/product/279-cart-fee

It lets you add a line to the cart calculated with a formula, and that line can be negative, so it works as an automatic discount.

Once installed, go to System > Plugins, open "Hikashop - Fees", enable it and fill in one row with the values of the attached file fees-plugin-settings.txt: the condition
Code:
{cart.total_quantity}>=3
makes the row apply only from 3 items in the cart, and the formula
Code:
-5*{cart.total_quantity}
gives $5 per item. The quantity counts every item, the same product several times or different products.

I tried it: with 2 items there is no discount, with 3 items (different or the same) the cart shows a discount of 15, with 4 items 20, and so on. It is applied automatically on the cart and checkout, the customer has nothing to enter.

We don't recommend auto-loaded coupons for this: a coupon has a fixed amount that is not multiplied by the quantity, so you would need one coupon per quantity (3, 4, 5...), and the automatic coupon would prevent your customers from using another coupon code.

Hi,

Yes, this can be done with a mass action (HikaShop menu System > Mass actions), one mass action per weight range. Because it rewrites the stored prices, make a database backup first, and run each mass action only once.

Create a new mass action and set:

- Data: Product.

- Filters: click "Add a filter" twice. In each one choose "Product columns", then the column product_weight. First filter: operator >=, value 0.01. Second filter: operator <=, value 0.1.

- Actions: choose "Update values", column price_value, type "A calculation", and the value +12.

Save, then click Process and confirm.

Repeat with a copy of it for the other ranges: weights >= 0.11 and <= 0.3 with +22, and weights >= 0.31 and <= 0.5 with +32. Keep the ranges from overlapping so a product never gets two increases. Weights are compared as stored on each product, so they must all be in the same unit (kg). A product with a weight between 0.1 and 0.11 or above 0.5 is not changed by any of the three.

The calculation adds the amount to the price as stored in the product (the price without tax, in the currency of that price line). If you set several currencies as separate price lines on your products, each line gets the same number, so check them afterwards. If you want to be able to change the surcharge later without touching the base prices, the alternative is to store the base price in a custom product field and then configure the mass action with triggers to automatically reprocess it based on the custom field value.
