Hello guys.... please i love this hikashop and really want to use it for my site... but i have a little problem.... i need the cart to be represented by an icon and not just a write up.... how do i change that from my code because it seems there's no option for that from the backend.... can i get the correct line of code to change it to an icon please...... thanks in advance

There is no option because it actually doesn't need any code modification to do that.
Supposing you have the text "%s items for %s" in your cart module, you can simply use a translation override in order to change that text to the HTML tag of an image :

i have located the language En- GB...... i tried to change to image with <img src and added the located to the img and saved... on my front end it showed a space created to input image.... so please advice..... thanks so much....

You can't use double quotes in translations ; it will break the translation file and Joomla won't be able to load it correctly.
You have to replace them with simple quotes.

As Jerome said, you should simply use simple quotes instead of double quotes in your HTML:
CART_EMPTY="<img src='/my/image/path.png'/>"

Yes it did work thanks alot... but now i'm having one more problem.... when i add a product to cart and click on the cart icon..... it only shows me what i have in my cart instead of linking me to a place where i can check out the products in my cart..... any help please..

I'm sorry but it's difficult to understand your message ; specially without any context, screenshot or context.
It looks like you created a link to the customer cart and you want in fact a link to the checkout.
Because we don't know anything about that "cart icon" and how you create it ; please understand that it is currently impossible for us to guide you because we don't know what you currently have.
