I'm trying to set up a flat fees for shipping, but the problem comes because I only need it for one customer.
We have many customers who register to use the site, but most of the time we don't bother with the shipping cost because they supply their own UPS/Fedex number to us, and we just charge it to that at ship time.
But now we have a new client who would rather not give their UPS number, so we have been adding the shipping afterwards. Except now it has become a bit of an annoyance and has even been missed a couple of times, resulting in free shipping for them. It would be better to have the shipping added right when they order so their receipt is actually correct.
I've tried setting up a shipping method that can only be viewed with their specific customer access level, but that still results in the shipping stage needing to be visible at checkout time. Normally this is not visible as 99% of clients don't require it. This could become an annoyance to all of them to have to click through an unnecessary checkout step for every order.
So I think what I need in this case is the ability to apply a flat fee to every order but only for this specific customer. Actually it would be better if I could scale the fee based on weight, but a flat fee would work as well.
Can anyone think of a way for me to do this?
