Availability dates by product for shipping ETA?

We have a client who offers custom made accessories and also sells stock items that are readily on hand.

For the stock items, the UPS estiimated Delivery date provided is fine, as the product ships out same or next day. But for custom orders, there is a minimum production time of 2 - 4 weeks that has to be accounted for. I can't figure out how to set this up in HikaShop, so that the dates the customer sees for delivery date ETA will vary for a stock vs. a custom made product. Any workaround suggestions to avoid building a custom plugin?

The ETA is displayed during the shipping method selection on the checkout. So I assume that you're talking about that, right ?
In that case, you would have to modify the UPS plugin to take the maximum production time (in a custom product field) of each product in the cart and add it to the ETA retrieved from UPS.
The modification should be quite easy in the plugin. It's just a loop on the products of the cart to get the maximum production time and a line of code to add it to the ETA from UPS.
If you're worried about loosing the changes during the updates, you could rename the ups plugin to something else so that it's not overwritten.
