PayPal Pro - no error notice for blank credit card

For the PayPal Pro plugin, there is no error message prompting to enter credit card information after trying to proceed to "Next" while leaving credit card fields blank. The page just refreshes to the same page but there is no error message.

I see code for an error message upon blank credit card fields in checkout.php but it seems the code is not triggered.

Any help is appreciated.

Such message is displayed on our end.
If you don't see it, it usually means that your Joomla template is not displaying the messages:
