Best Payment Methods

Looking for general advise. The problem I have currently is that users are ordering stuff through the shop but when they are transferred to Paypal, they fail to pay. This means that the order has a status of created, but we have no money. We use standard paypal (not pro).

What are the best payment methods to ensure that payment is collected BEFORE the order is created or at least user have a better experience on the site.

Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated.

With most payment methods, the order is created, the payment is made, and then the order's status is changed to "confirmed". So you should only take into account confirmed orders. That's how you know if the payment was made or not.

There are some exceptions where the order is created after the payment. It's for the payment methods where the payment happens on the website, like with PayPal Pro, or Authorize.net in AIM mode.
