Payment Frustration

Our small business has been using eWay in our Australian retail bakery for phone orders. Nothing online.

We are implementing Joomla/HikaShop/eWay and so far have spent 5 hours with eWay help and the payment gateway still doesn't work.
They have given up.
And I'm rather over them!

Looking for something of a similar cost to eWay and was looking at SecurePay but the plugin hasn't changed since 2017

Now investigating Square

Am somewhat reluctant to use this plugin while spending $100 just to trial it.
I don't want to be in the same situation as we are with eWay.
Also some concern with a number of issues I'm reading on this place.

Interested to understand how users of Square find their system, ONLY online?

The Square plugin is developed by our partner Tsukidev:

Most of the issues with the plugin that I can find reported on this forum comes from newer versions of Joomla, or server setup (like openssl missing), or PHP or changes with the Square API which the developer had to take into account to update the plugin.
The last one, a month ago was precisely because of the old API of Square being stopped, followed by Tsukidev releasing a new version of the plugin with support for the new API:

So as far as I can see, the plugin is still maintained and working, and is being used by dozens of merchants.
