Stripe Checkout Returning Page

Hi there,

I am trying out the Stripe Checkout plugin. It all seems to work well but I have one small question. Is there any way to set the page that it returns to after completing the transaction?

Currently, Stripe sends the user back to my home page, which shows a message where they can click to see their order. however, the page looks a bit messy because it shows the order details in amongst the content of my home page. Can I control the returning page in the plugin or is it a setting in my Stripe account? I'd prefer it to go to the specific 'Thanks' page that I have already set up.

Many thanks
Leila

Hi Leila,

It's not a Stripe setting, and it's a bug on our side. Thanks for reporting it.

HikaShop gives Stripe the address to come back to, and that address does carry the menu item your checkout runs on. But when the customer came back, the plugin sent them on to the end of the checkout without that menu item, so Joomla displayed the page on the default menu item of the site, your home page, and you got its content around the thank you message and the order link.

This is fixed in version 1.5.4 of the Stripe Checkout plugin, which you can download again from your account on our website. After that, the customer comes back on the menu item the checkout was on, with its own template style and its own modules.

If you want that page to look different from the rest of the shop, create a menu item of type HikaShop > Checkout, in a menu you don't display if you prefer, and select it in the "Force a menu on the checkout" option of the Checkout tab of the HikaShop configuration. The checkout and the page after the payment will both use it, and you can assign your thank you content to it.

Thanks for your reply. I re-downloaded the plugin and now it does return to the checkout page which looks neater.

However, I'm unclear about how I can customise that returning page. Surely anything I add there will also appear on the checkout pages?

Hi,

Edit the file checkout / after_end via the menu Display>Views of HikaShop in order to add your customization. it will only appear on that page.
Simpler, and easier to maintain, you can create your page as a Joomla article, accessed from a hidden menu item and then provide the URL of that page in the "Return URL" of the payment method.

Sorry to be really stupid but I can't see any field for the return URL...

Hi,

You're right, sorry about that: the "Return url" setting exists in other payment plugins like PayPal, but it was missing from the Stripe Checkout plugin.

I've added it in version 1.5.5 of the plugin, which you can download again from your account on our website. After the update, edit your Stripe Checkout payment method in System>Payment methods and you'll find the "Return url" field. Enter the address of your thank you page there. You can include order data in the address with placeholders, for example {order_number}, if you want to display it on your page.

When the field is filled in, the customer is sent to that page after a successful payment instead of the end of the checkout of HikaShop.
