Can't get the upload file removed

Hello,

we have a custom field that we use to upload a file that can be downloaded in the fontend as a specs sheet.

So when we upload a file (pdf) in the backend... the visitor can download it in the frontend

When we have a file uploaded in a product... we CAN override/replace it with anothor file...but we CAN'T delete/make it empty again.
How can we fix this?

You can change your custom field from file to Ajax File, that it will allow you to have the option to remove the file.

Indeed, with the "file" type of custom fields, there is no mechanism to allow you to delete the file.
What you can do is to change the type to "AJAX file" in the settings of your custom field.
It is much powerful and has extra options including one to allow for deletion of the files.
