Use alternate login/registration

I am using easyProfile on the site to record additional fields at registration.

Is it possible to get Hikashop to use this registration rather than its own?

At the moment if the user has not registered before he starts shopping the Hiakshop registration is used and the additional fields not captured

It's not possible.
But HikaShop has its own registration page you can use and it also handles "additional fields". You can configure them via the menu Display>Custom fields. So a good chunk of the functions of easyProfile can be done by HikaShop on your website.
