Add Notes to an order

Hi

On the site customers can place a pre-order and when the stock arrives a new order is raised by the admin and the user notified. I wondered if it is possible to add a text field/area where clients can add additional notes after placing an order. This would then be displayed in the admin area as well for the site admins to see. The admin would also need a notification that the order has been updated.

Hi,

You can create a custom order field via the menu Display>Custom fields to allow the customer to enter a note during the checkout. And that can be displayed in the backend, in the email notifications, etc.
However, there is no mechanism to allow the customer to change that field after the order is created.
