add tracking number to shipped email

I've looked through documentation on adding tracking number to "shipped" email

I can't see tracking number as a field though?

Hi,

There is indeed no such field by default.
However, you can just create one via the menu Display>Custom fields.
In its settings, you'll be able to configure where you want to display the field so that you can enter the information in it on the order management in the backend and have it appear in the notification emails.
