'Please Select" single dropdown wording displays

-- PHP version -- : 5.4.37

When the customer does not select an option, the wording 'Please Select" displays in the back-end view of the Customer Order. It should be blank, if no option selected. How can I accomplish this?

You should set nothing in the "value" input for the "please select" choice of your custom fields.
