I want to change the country list. some of the country names are too long for my needs and it messes up my template design. could you tell me the name of the file i need to edit?

Hi,

That's not in a file. You can just go in the menu System->Zones and edit the countries you want to change.

I want to limit the number of countries (I wont' ship to them all!). how do I do that? I tried filtering for the US and it's States, which was fine. published only those. But now when the registration/address form comes up, it leaves off the state for shipping.

Since Paypal isn't collecting the addresses, I don't have a back up for this. Can you help?

Once you unpublished the countries you don't need, you can go in the menu Display->Custom fields in order to set up the default value of both the address_country and the address_state fields.

ok i have another question. how can i remove the country field without affecting the zone field? i don't need another country but one for the moment, but the zones are a must.

You can go in the config under the tab display and edit your front end CSS and add the line:
.hikashop_registration_address_country_line{display:none;}

Could you do a screenshot of your custom fields listing and of your front end checkout ?
Also, do you have javascript errors on your page ?
