Two name field on registration was created by deborahharrison
Hi
At the moment when someone registers on our site, they have to type in their full name then their username. Is there a way, I can change this to first name and surname?
Please advise. We are currently using the free version of Hikashop
Thanks

So you just want to change the labels of the fields ? You can do that via the translation file like all the other texts in HikaShop.

Hi Nicolas
We also would like to add a field. At the moment its just one name field. Ideally we would like to change the current name field to first name and add another form field called surname.
Hope this makes sense.

The user name field is stored in joomla. You can change the name of the label in the languages tab of the configuration.
If you want to add a new field for the user, you will need to add a new custom field of the table "user" (it's possible in commercial versions of hikashop).
The custom user fields are only displayed in the hikashop user edition screen of the back end so they don't have a lot of use. May I ask why you want to do that ?

My client just prefers the 2 names separately.
I have taken a look in custom fields, and there already is an option to display first and last name, but I am assuming that this is just for the address form.
Please advise if I can use this.

Indeed, these two are for the addresses. You can use them if you want but you won't be able to remove the user one (it's needed by joomla). In the commercial versions, you can change the registration option of the config to simplified registration so that the name field will be removed and the first and last name of the address will be concatenated together and used to fill it.
