Structured Search

I've enabled the Hikashop search plugins and products are being found using the core search function. However, my client has asked whether it's possible to offer a more structured search function.

Their business is menswear, so what they'd like is the ability to:-

select a category: could be "all" or "trousers"
select a size: all or "36"
choose a search word: could be a brand name or all

The search would be limited excusively to products within the Hikshop store and the results should return products shown in the products box like a category view.

Any plans to offer something like this?

Anyone coded this and want to share their work?

We want to offer that possibility in the future. You would be able to define filters of different types (category, search field, price range, characteristics, custom fields, weight, dimensions, etc) and they would then be displayed on the listings of the front end...
That's however not currently possible unless you add some big changes in the files of the product view of the front end.

Hard to say. We have feature requests everyday and we can't do them all. So we do them based on the number of demands, the complexity and whether the users asking for them are ready to pay even partially for them.

I hope we can have it done before the end of the year. But it could be in two months as it could be in a year...

OK - back to my client to find out how much it's worth to them!!
