Hi,
First, you need to install JoomFish on your website and configure it for your languages. Then, in the Languages tab of the configuration, you can turn on the option "Activate the edition of content in multiple languages".

hello,
thanks for the anwser - unfortunately joomfish doesn't support joomla 1.7.x. and probably not joomla 2.5.

Indeed, if your website is on joomla 1.7 you won't be able to use joomfish until they release a compatible version. They are actually working on one and have a first development version available, although it is still hard to use if you're not a developer. There is also the falang extension which is a port of joomfish onto 1.7 but that extension is also in beta so it might require some tweaks to make it work.
In that case, you can use the joomla 1.7 multi language system, but it's a lot less practical than with joomfish:
you need to create several category trees, one per language.
Then, in each category trees, you need to create duplicates of products, one per language, attached to the corresponding category for the language of the product.
Then, when you create your menus and modules, you can restrict them to one language, and set the corresponding category in the "parent category" option of the menu/module.
Or you could also make your website with Joomla 1.5

Hello, I am having the same issue as littlehollywood. The default is set to English (GB) but need it to be (USA). My site is on 1.7 as well, and pretty far along. As of now is there an easier way of doing it? Has Joomfish come out with an update for 1.7? If need be is there a way I could downgrade to 1.5? Kinda new to this...wondering if I could take copy of data base then reinstall 1.5 version. Do you think it would work?

@bal3nsd
there is no update from Joomfish for Joomla 1.7.x Version and it will not be released. But on the JoomFish Blog i read that "A new version JoomFish 2.5 for the Joomla 2.5 series is in preparation and will be released as a first beta version to our club members shortly."
I'm gonna update to Joomla 2.5 as soon as a stable version of JoomFish for Joomla 2.5 is out.

Hi,
We have worked on having HikaShop compatible with Falang, a port of Joomfish on Joomla 2.5. It will be released in next version of HikaShop and it's already working great.
If you need a pre version, you can use our contact form to ask it (specify the version and your order number if it's a commercial edition).
