When somebody makes a purchase is it normal for me to recieve an email from my website saying I have an order or is this something I have to set up myself?
Yes that's normal.
Both the user and you receive an email.
If you don't want it, you can deactivate it by removing the email address from the option "Order creation notifications email address" in the configuration of HikaShop.
