Products not displaying in category.

15 years 9 months ago - 15 years 9 months ago #5466 by JWeb5
I have 18 products under id 17,and only 11 are displaying. They were all displaying,I updated yesterday, cause of problem?

UPC(product_id) are different example: 205b for 11 of them and 205001 for the others.

What would cause the deletion of the other items? Import is succesful for 1100 products, some won't show in Front end or in product list?

We fixed a lot of things on each release so it could be possible that we now do some check properly which was not the case previously.

If a product is not displayed on the front end, first, make sure that it is published, and attached to your category. If you use the Business edition, you can also check that the access level is ok.

If the product isn't displaying on the back end either, then maybe the problem comes from the category of the product ? Are you sure that your product is linked to a valid category ? Do you see it in the table hikashop_product in the database ? If so, do you see an entry in the table hikashop_product_category for your category and the product ? If not, try to create it. The product will appear in the back end listing under that category and you should be able to edit it to see if there is a problem.

Ids are linked correctly.

So, if your products are linked to the categories in the database, you should see them in the products listing in the back end.
Is that the case ?
If not, could you look at the filters on the right of the listing and make sure that you are displaying all products and all sub elements ?

Tables exist but the product that were there prior are gone.
I am going to try to import again and double check the delimeters.

HikaShop doesn't touch the data during updates.
The only reason would be that something else removed the hikashop tables from the database.

They are not in the backend either.

They are displayed set to all sub elements.

After import ->1059 products found : 0 new products imported, 0 invalid product code, 1059 already existing products

but they are no longer showing in backend or front end.

Did you change your CSV ?
in the "categories" column in your CSV do you have the categories code or name ?
If you have the categories column in the CSV, but that you don't have the categories specified, the system will remove the products from the categories.

I did trytthe csvbut if i imported the csv wrong there may be extra left over data that is conflicting?
The csv was fine, it's the same file that I used to initially import the products.
I have these fields:
product_name price_value categories product_code product_weight product_weight_unit
What are the proper delimeters? ; and "?
All categories have ids and they were showing, but now more than half have disapeared.

Could it be that the initial import created a product_id, and the re-import does not contain the data?
Even though the CSV says already existing?

You can use commas or semicolons as delimiters.
You can also use double quotes to enclose your values.

When you import first, it creates the products and assign a product_id automatically to each product.
When you reimport, it will use the product_code to identify the product and update the information in the database using the information in the CSV for each product.

You say that even the categories disappeared ? That's really strange...
In your case, I would delete both the product, the product_category and the category tables. Then, reinstall HikaShop to put back all the default categories and then import again the CSV.

Categories are there, just products are missing.

Is there a functional limit to the quantity of products in one upload?

No. HikaShop doesn't have any limits.
However, if your hosting company apply some upload restrictions or small php execution timeout or small memory limit, HikaShop might hit that limit and would result in most cases in a blank page, error 500 or a fatal error.

Will the update cover the reinstall,or would you suggest the full version?

What do you mean ?
When you install the hikashop package over a previous version. Your data isn't changed. Only the HikaShop files are updated. However, if tables are missing, HikaShop will put them back along with the default data in it.
The version installed and the version of the package are not relevant.

Same problem here. Just installed HikaShop, created two categories, created products within those categories, all published, only the Categories show!

NONE of our products show on the Frontend.

Hi,

I suppose that you create a categories listing menu via the joomla manager, right ?
You need to click on the "hikashop options" link of the menu options. That will display the hikashop options of the menu. There, save the options. A message will appear that you don't have an associated module for it. You can click on the link provide to generate it. That associated module will handle the listing of products for the listing of categories menu.

You can read more about it on that tutorial:
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/6...html#categories_menu
