Featured products? was created by geocentricdesign

Can I create a module of featured products? If so can I narrow it by category as well as have it pull from all products?

Yes. Just create a featured category, add it to the products you want, and create a new content module (Display->content modules) with the featured category as parent category and disable the synchronization of the module.
