How do I edit the order mail

I have essential version. How can I edit the content of the email the customer receives when they place an order? All your instructions for this are for business version.

Yes, the interface to do it is only available in the Business edition.

With the Essential edition, you will have to directly edit the email files in the folder media/com_hikashop/mail via FTP but note that unlike with the interface, you'll loose your changes when you update, so make sure that you do a backup.

I also need to edit the order email. Which file contains the actual text please?

The order creation notification is sent when the order is created. The order status notification is sent when the order is confirmed.
You should edit their html version.
