downloadable files will not show up

I've set up a product ebook for my client with an epub file attached to it. You order it, it goes through paypal, you're returned to your order status where you see a link to some letter and number combo, then a link to the product, then just the description of the product. There is no link anywhere. What am I doing wrong?

First of all, check in the product configuration page, if the file added is not a free download. If it's a free download the link will be displayed in the product page.
Then is your extension allowed in Configuration > Files ?

In the user control panel, orders, when you select the order, there is no link too ?

It's possible that the order is not confirmed automatically by paypal and thus the file is not available.
