Disabling the "Order creation notification" email

I'd like to disable the "Order creation notification" email which gets sent to the user before they have actually purchased/paid for anything. To do this, Do I just need to unpublish it in System > Emails ?

Will this alter any other functionality?

I've never really bought anything online which sends this kind of pre-purchase email. I'm not sure what it's use is?

Yeah just disable the email and it won't be sent, it'll still change in the backend to order created, it just won't notify you.

Oh wait, maybe I have the wrong email. I'd like to disable the one which is sent to the customer, is this correct?

Yes, if you disable this mail, your customer won't receive Email for their order creation .
