Create a Report that shows product variants

I have a shop where several of the products are variants and they do not show up as a choice under "Products" when creating a report. It is only showing the parent product which is really never sold. You can purchase a digital or printed version and I can't get reports on either. Am I missing something?

When you select a product in a report, the report will show the agglomerated statistics for all the variants of the product.
