How to add quantity to the product charachteristic

Hi
I am trying to add quantity to the product characteristics, but it is no option fo it.
For instance I like to know how many red shirts do I have not how many shirts do I have in total.

Click on the "manage variants" button of the product edition page and you will be able to enter the quantity of each variant.
