Discount for members of our association

I'm wondering what the best way would be to implement a 20% discount on all products for every member of our association. I am in a situation where the membership administration is done via a custom programmed system that was part of our old (non-Joomla) website, so it's not really integrated in the new Joomla website I installed (well, it is in the Joomla users table, but there the integration ends...)

Some possibilities I have thought off:

1) Email a unique discount coupon code to every member.
Disadvantages: only a few percent of our members will use the webshop, and it would be better not to bother everyone with a discount code.

2) Implement the discount as an alternative payment option with 20% discount
Disadvantages: not really an 'elegant' solution, and moreover the TAX is calculated before this discount is applied, which is unwanted.

Any other ideas?

And why don't you add all the members of your association to a joomla user group ?
So that you'll be able to restrict the access of your discount to only this user group by using Access level.
Note that ACL are available through the business version of Hikashop.

That's a good suggestion, but the problem is that our membership lasts for 1 year, and if it's not renewed by the user, the discount shouldn't be applied anymore.
Indeed I could add all the current members to a Joomla users group, but I don't see a way to automatically remove them from the group once the membership expires.

You could use a membership extension for joomla to do that. Some of them will automatically remove the users from the user group corresponding their subscription once it expires. I think that Akeeba subscriptions has such capability so I would recommend to see that with them.
